Welcome to Walkergate Early Years Centre.

Walkergate Early Years Centre is a designated Children's Centre incorporating Walkergate Nursery School, a 104 place local authority maintained school and Miller's Dene Family Centre, a registered charity providing family support services.

The centre aims to support, develop and nurture the whole child within the partnership of the family and the community.

Principles of Operation
Quality care is education and quality education is care.

Education begins at birth. Services must recognise the key role of parents as a child's educators.

Services should be flexible and responsive to the needs of children and their families. An Early Years curriculum must be developmentally appropriate and should recognise the importance of play in early learning.

Language and effective communication are vital to early learning. Staff should be highly trained effective practitioners with access to good quality training and developmental opportunities.

Effective teamwork within an open honest framework is central to the success of service provision.

Services should respect and value individuals.
Services should be inclusive and non discriminatory.

• Nursery activities 2 - 5 years old. 104 Nursery places for 3 - 4 year olds, term time only. Day care 0-2's and 2's-3's 8.00 - 5.30 p.m.
